WYLD designed the Family Camp program to support the healthy development of family structures by providing a fun way to spend quality time outdoors together. Many families do not go camping because of the expense, lack of experience, and knowledge of where to go and what to do. WYLD removes all of these obstacles by providing an affordable overnight camping program that teaches families how to set-up a tent, cook outdoors, and create memorable outdoor experiences. WYLD provides all gear, food, and activities for participants. This program is designed for inexperienced camping families.
Program Areas of Focus:
1. Foundations of Camping – Leave No Trace
2. Healthy Food Choices
4. Family Bonding
Families will learn how to:
⦁Plan for food needs, and prepare shopping lists.
⦁Follow the “Leave No Trace” ethos and tenets with regards to trash, campsites, trails and wildlife.
⦁Set up tents, use stoves, light and extinguish fires, and get any and all permits and parking passes where needed.
⦁Build student-driven initiative, clean up and activities.
