Jr. Ranger Program

Summary: Peer/Student Mentorship; College and High School to Middle School Mentorship; Older WYLD cohorts mentoring younger WYLD cohorts. Get trained, get a stipend, or become a fully staffed guide.

Junior Rangers are program-continuing high school and college-aged youth who have graduated from the Catapult program or Jr. Ranger training program,  and ready to take on a more leadership peer mentoring role.

We aim to hire, pay and train the next generation of WYLD guides that are from the community in South Los Angeles that we serve. We believe that wilderness stewardship and leadership is important and that having more youth from underserved communities in leadership roles is an important aspect of taking the role seriously, and also enforces the self-worth and leadership potential of the youth we are hiring.
